Last year, I hunted high and low for a solution to balls of knotted Christmas lights. My friend, momofalltrades, gave me a brilliant suggestion and today as I unwound my strands of lights, I blessed her name for saving my sanity.

When you’re ready to put away your Christmas lights, grab a few out of date magazines. Roll them like you’re going to swat a fly, then wind your lights around the rolled up magazine.

Unwinding my lights was a snap this year! The strands came off easily, untangled and made lighting our tree so much easier!  Not only did this same me a few bucks since I didn’t purchase fancy light wrappers, I was also able to get double duty out of magazines instead of simply throwing them out. Thrifty and recycling — love it!
